Rowen
Rowen is one of the prettiest villages in North Wales, having a picturesque collection of well-kept traditional stone cottages and farmhouses. The village has a shop with post office and a pub serving bar meals and you can also enjoy traditional Welsh singing every Friday night. Both are located within 400 yards of the campsite.
Every two year in May, 20 private gardens are open to the public for the Rowen Open Gardens Day which raises money for local charities. There is also a village carnival every year held during July.
The village is a very popular starting point for hill walking in the Carneddau mountains. From the village, the Roman road route to Aber Falls, passes through Bwlch-y-Ddeufaen, with its cromlech Maen-y-Bardd , the neolithic dwelling site Caer Bach and the medieval 12th century church of Old Llangelynnin. The village recently featured on the BBC 1 programme Weather Man Walking.
